Description

This individual will support the Chick-fil-A Corporate Communications team’s vision of creating clarity and alignment across Chick-fil-A by inspiring, educating and equipping internal audiences. The team serves as a communications service organization for all of Chick-fil-A Inc. and its Vertical Business Lines.

Specifically, the individual will be charged with leading internal communication strategy for Chick-fil-A’s Vertical Business Lines including Chick-fil-A Supply and Bay Center. Both companies are in start-up mode requiring this role to consult on a wide variety of topics ranging from development of strategies to implementation of programs. This role will also require close coordination with Chick-fil-A Inc.’s Supply Chain, especially on Distribution-related programs and issues.

The role will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communication and employee engagement strategy that engages all key stakeholders, creates key messages across existing and new channels, and leverages insights and best practices to advance the goals and objectives within the department and across the organization. S/he will serve as the communications subject-matter expert within the Vertical Business Lines, advising functional leadership and staff on best practices in communications – as well supporting executives in leadership communications.

Our Flexible Future model offers a healthy mix of working in person and virtually, strengthening key elements of the Chick-fil-A culture by fostering collaboration and community.

Requirements

  • Serve as the strategic lead to provide strategic business recommendations on all key Vertical Business Line communications strategies and initiatives, connecting back to Chick-fil-A Inc strategies as appropriate
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy that effectively targets all audiences with key messaging and tactics across:
    • Strategic and executive communications
    • Urgent and event-related communications
    • Staff and program communications
  • Lead crisis and event-related communications, including on-call responsibility for product withdrawals/recalls and weather-related events impacting supply
  • Lead cross-functional team that brings together Vertical Business Line and Chick-fil-A Inc. Staff to ensure seamless integration and execution of the communications plan
  • Serve as communications liaison on multiple cross-functional teams and advise and influence both laterally and with senior leadership
  • Create and execute major deadline-driven communications initiatives, on budget and on time, using appropriate combinations of vendors, contractors, agencies, and in-house services.
  • Continue to establish and integrate guidelines and organizational norms for communication across the function, including the development and rollout of best-in-class processes

This role requires agency or corporate communications experience and the ability to work in a cross-functional manner – both across the company and across a variety of communications channels, such as print, video, online and events. In addition, any internal staff communications experience is highly valued.

  • Relationship builder with a highly collaborative style, who has the ability to influence and build alignment at all levels and across multiple teams, departments and within subsidiary businesses
  • Strategic communicator who is comfortable leading in ambiguity and is willing and able to evaluate, make informed recommendations to leadership and execute communication plans
  • Ability to stay calm and lead in high-pressure, rapidly evolving situations
  • Comfortable operating both autonomously and on matrixed teams
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leading external agency partners/consultants and managing a budget
